Youth Fellowship

Secretary: Miss. Siya Mathew

“Lighted to Lighten” is the official motto of the Mar Thoma Church. St. Peter’s Youth Mar Thoma Youth Fellowship, strived to put this motto into practice in the year 2015. The 2015 Youth Fellowship Committee began the year with the focus revolving around Romans 12:4-5.The Youth Fellowship was responsible for all English service and Divine service arrangements.

Every Friday, a bible study is hosted at one of the St. Peter’s Mar Thoma Church Youth Fellowship member’s house with this year’s focus as the “Life of David”. We were able to host over 40 bible studies, and each bible study was attended by around 15-25 members. We also hosted Men’s and Women’s Bible Study on the last Friday of every month, with an attendance of 5-10 members. Our Youth Chaplain attended and led several of our bible studies in the report year. Along with speakers from our parish and youth, we were blessed to have guest speakers speak from the Word of God to us. Special thanks to all those who opened up their house and all who took time to share from the Gospel to Youth Fellowship.

As a Youth Fellowship we were able not only to learn about our faith, but live it out. We would like to thank our mission coordinators, Mr. Roshen Varughese and Ms. Julia Joy for organizing and leading each of the below listed project:
Teaneck Nursing Home, Bible and a Buck, Soles for Souls, Car Wash, Community Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Health Fair/Concert, Relief Bus, Blood Drive, Turkey Drive / Canned Food Drive, Clothing Drive.

In the report year, the Youth Fellowship hosted the below outings and events to grow in unity: Bowling, Mother’s Day & Father’s Day, Game Sunday/Sports Sunday, I am Thankful Dinner, Awakening: A Night of Dedication. We also had our first ever “Reach” conference this year, a praise night revolving around reaching out to the community.

Special thanks to our parish vicar Rev. Roy Mathew Achen and Youth Chaplain, Rev. Dennis Abraham Achen, who led us. Thanks to all the youths and parishioners as well for constantly keeping us in your prayers that we may grow and become disciple of Christ. We would like to thank each committee member for their diligence and hard work throughout the year in order to glorify God through each of their positions. Thanks especially to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who deserves all the glory.
